Five flights we flew this week

No flight is ever the same – even if the route might be. Private aviation is the ultimate in bespoke travel, so we design the details to fit around the customer.

That’s one of the best things about working here and every week we get excited by the different global connections we make happen.

As a snapshot of life at PrivateFly, here are five flights we arranged this week and their prices – which ranged from €6,750 to €144,250 (prices shown in the currency used, see details of payment methods for our flights).

1. PARIS TO CANNES

The internal route from the French capital down to the south is very popular in Europe over the spring and summer months – and we fly many clients every week to Cannes Mandelieu Airport and Nice Cote D’Azur Airport (see Should I land at Nice or Cannes?).

This week it was a US business client, who had travelled over to Europe a few days’ earlier, and was basing himself in Paris. He wanted to head down to the south for 2 days to view some property on the French Riviera.

The client was flying with just one other passenger, so we recommended a 4-seater Citation Mustang for the short flight. And as he was in a small aircraft, he could use the smaller airport runway at Cannes, which was very close to their hotel.

2. LONDON TO ROME

Italy is the 4th biggest market for private aviation in Europe, behind France, Germany and the UK so we often fly clients to and from Rome, Milan, Sardinia and other areas.

This was a one-way flight by an Italian client, who works in the fashion industry, and was returning home after attending an event in London.

The client was travelling in a group of 6, and had a sizeable amount of luggage and also wanted to travel with their pet dog. They had enjoyed flying in a smaller Phenom 300 on previous flights, so this time we recommended another Embraer aircraft, the Legacy 600, which gave the extra space they needed.

3. COVENTRY TO PALMA

Mallorca is one of our most popular European destinations in the summer months. This client, who lives in the Midlands area of the UK, was playing golf in the Palma area. He needed space for two sets of golf clubs, as well as 3 passengers.

We recommended a Citation XLS, which is the world’s most popular private jet aircraft. Medium-sized and very versatile, it has been a very successful aircraft in recent years both in Europe and in the US.

4. WASHINGTON TO NEW YORK

Short flights along the east coast of the US are very regular routes for us. This was a last minute flight request by a client based in Washington, who wanted to fly to New York at very short notice and return later the same day.

The client called us just after 8:00hrs local time and wanted to land in New York before 12:00 to sign some important paperwork, and then be back in Washington before the end of the working day.

We were able to compare options of aircraft that were already on the ground at Washington Dulles Airport as she headed to the airport. The client chose a cost-effective Citation II and was able to take off just before 10:30hrs, for the 50 minute flight to New York. The aircraft waited for her at Teterboro while she completed her paperwork in the city and she took off again just after 15:00hrs for the return flight – and was back at her desk by 16:30.

5. LYON TO SEATTLE

A regular client of ours who works in the tech industry wanted to fly a group of executives from their corporate headquarters in Lyon, France, to Seattle for a technology conference. And to return the following day. One of the passengers had a number of food allergies so we worked closely with the caterers and the client to design a menu that would fit their needs.

We presented a number of long range aircraft options and the client chose to fly in a Gulfstream G550. This aircraft is capable of 6750nm non-stop at speeds of up to 500kts and seated the 7 passengers in comfort, with room to sleep on the 9 hour flight.
