Football fans club together for last minute private jets to Moscow

With England now through to the final four in the FIFA World Cup Russia, we’ve seen an unprecedented surge of private jet charter demand from English fans in recent days, looking to fly to Moscow for the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, and the final on Sunday. We’re also arranging flights from all over Europe, including from French and Belgian fans.

Lots of demand is coming from groups of fans, who are coordinating themselves to share the cost of chartering a private jet, to travel in VIP style for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. And with economy airline flights from London to Moscow currently looking at close to £3,000 per person, the gap between airline and private jet costs per person is narrower than some people expect.

One UK group is made up of colleagues from two different London financial firms coming together. Another are several family and friends spread out in Leicestershire and the North East, flying from Manchester.

Other clients are looking to jet in and out on very tight schedules. One of our French clients is flying out Tuesday afternoon to St Petersburg to watch the semi-final against Belgium, and flying back to Paris very early on Wednesday, for an important business meeting.

Availability is now limited and there are operational challenges and extra repositioning costs for last minute flights, given the high demand for aircraft, runway slots and aircraft parking at Moscow’s airports. So many clients have booked already to secure their flights. Others are prepared to wait and try to book when the line-up for Sunday’s World Cup Final is known.

Prices from London to Moscow start from £45,000 – £50,000 return for a 9-seater jet (and are subject to availability).

We’re advising clients considering World Cup flights to Russia to book as soon as possible, as availability is very limited. Contact our expert Flight Team (24/7) on +44 (0)20 7100 6960.
