New Regulations For Disabled Airline Passengers
This week, a new regulation in Europe came into effect by the Civil Aviation Authority, regarding airports and airlines helping disabled passengers, aiming to improve and enhance their flying experience. This includes help when travelling through an airport, boarding or disembarking an aircraft, and help during a flight. While similar regulations are already in place in the US, we’re happy to see this new move towards improved flying experiences for disabled passengers throughout more airports and airlines, and we feel the new regulation is much needed.
At PrivateFly, we regularly work with many clients with disabilities or reduced mobility (as well as medical and emergency flights). Sometimes, private charter flights are the only options for these passengers, allowing for as seamless and stress-free trip as possible. Travelling through an FBO instead of a regular airport terminal means that passengers don’t have to deal with crowds or queues. Going through the FBO sometimes isn’t even required, with passengers being driven directly up to the plane steps, going through security proceedings from within the car, before boarding the plane.
Additionally, if any passenger has special requests or requirements, they can easily be arranged with our Flight Team to ensure that the trip goes smoothly for all. From special catering requests to flying with a guide dog in the cabin, no special request is too much to ask for when it comes to flying by private jet.
This new regulation is a great start to ensuring that disabled airline passengers who choose to fly with scheduled airlines can enjoy an improved flight experience, in the air and on the ground.
