Private jet travel & prices to Cuba

With regulations now lifted for US citizens to travel to Cuba, and President Obama planning a historic visit this month, all eyes are on travel to the Caribbean nation.

Of course, tourists from other parts of the world have been visiting Cuba for many years, but there’s no doubt that the increasing accessibility for travel from the nearby US, is shining a global spotlight on the island.

Commercial airlines are still working out their programs for newly-authorised flights from the US to Cuba, but private charter aircraft are already flying into the country’s airport from the US and elsewhere, giving travellers the benefits of a bespoke itinerary, and VIP comfort and service.

The expected influx of US visitors will undoubtedly see a lot of changes in Cuba’s tourist landscape in the years ahead.

Private jet travel from the USA to Cuba

Regulations are relaxing all the time, but technically US citizens must still fit into one of 12 categories for permitted travel to Cuba. Flights from the US are also currently taking longer to arrange than you would expect for other destinations, with more limited departure airports available and more paperwork required.

Private jet charter pricing to Cuba

With still a relatively small number of private jet charter operators licensed to fly their aircraft to Cuba, pricing from the US can be somewhat higher than clients would pay from other destinations or on an equivalent flight elsewhere. But this is changing and opening up rapidly, with new aircraft entering the market and restrictions easing.

Private jet airports & destinations in Cuba

The vintage glamour of Havana is the key draw for the majority of visitors to Cuba, unlocking a wealth of history and culture such as local art; cigar factories; vintage cars; and colonial monuments.

But outside the capital, there are many other smaller airports accessible by private jets, within easy reach of some of the most exclusive and stunning areas of Cuba and its outlying islands. Here are just a few:

Vilo Acuna Airport on tiny Cayo Largo island, 50 miles off the north eastern coast of Cuba. The island, just 17 miles long, offers dolphin and turtle sighting on its world-class white sand beaches.

Santa Maria Airport gives you direct access to the stunning island of Cayo Santa Maria on the north central coast, and its UNESCO-recognized Buenavista Biosphere Reserve, home to coral reefs and mangrove forests.

Frank Pais International Airport serves the eastern province of Holguin and its Guardalavaca beach area. This is home to a number of exclusive beach resorts and hotels, including the 5 star Paradisus Rio de Oro, widely regarded as Cuba’s most exclusive luxury resort.

Jardines Del Ray Airport on the pristine white sand island of Cayo Coco, inspiration for Ernest Hemingway and home to 30,000 flamingos.
