Globally, the SuperBowl Final in February each year, is the biggest event for private jet activity. But a different kind of football will be a key driver for increased private jet activity in Europe this summer.
With the Champions League Final in May, followed by the 4-yearly UEFA European Championship (aka the Euros 2016) in June and July. It’s set to be a bumper summer for soccer fans.
And these events attract large numbers of groups, individuals and corporates who use private aviation to reach their destination faster, and on a personalised itinerary. We also work in partnership with sports industry partners. (See more: Business aviation flights for the sports industry.)
For the Euros, each team’s matches will be held at different venues across France. So the ease of arranging bespoke flights between matches will also be a major benefit. England’s Group matches for example, are in Marseille, Saint-Etienne, and Lens.
While private jet travel can usually be arranged at very short notice, for major events we recommend booking further in advance to secure preferred flight timings and availability. Airports close to the stadium venues are likely to reach capacity on their aircraft slots and parking well in advance.
We do expect to see a noticeable increase in late demand, from fans of the countries through to the later stages. But these may be subject to higher costs, as aircraft may need to position in and out of other nearby airports due to lack of parking – which can increase charter costs.

Private jet travel to the Champions League Final in Milan
First up, it’s the Champions League Final on Saturday 28th May. This is the culmination of the seasonal competition between Europe’s top football clubs, held this year at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, otherwise known as Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The final will be a clash between the final two teams left in the knockout competition. At the quarter final stage, the eight teams still remaining are Manchester City; Barcelona; Paris Saint-Germain; Real Madrid; Atletico Madrid; Wolfsburg; Benfica; and Bayern Munchen.

Private jet travel to the UEFA Euros 2016 in France
The summer’s biggest football event kicks off less than two weeks later, from 10th June. This is the 15th international football championship for Europe, the UEFA European Championships – more commonly known as the Euros 2016. Fixtures will be held in stadium venues across France, including Paris, St Etienne, Lens and Marseille.
Over a period of a month, 24 European national sides will compete, in ten different venues. This culminates in the final at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris on 10th July.
