The PrivateFly team fly around the track
Our team’s aviation obsession extends to all moving things. Whether it has two wings; two wheels or four; rails or a rotor…just try keeping us away.
And it’s true to say that there is more than a little friendly competition between some of our team members. So what better way to spend a team night out, than getting behind the wheel for a few laps of motorsport?
Our venue was Daytona Motorsport in Milton Keynes, which offers a 1360m outdoor track, with a number of challenging corners – along with excellent conference and hospitality facilities.
Daytona has played host to a number of skilled and well-known drivers, including Jensen Button, Martin Blundell and Tom Cruise. So the PrivateFly team were following in some impressive footsteps.
After a full briefing and putting on our suits and helmets, we did a 5-minute qualifier warm up, trying different lines and braking points in order to become quicker. This was followed by 20 minute sprint race.
It’s fair to say that there was quite a variation in the quality and standard of driving. But we all set about the task with passion and commitment. And, in some cases at least, real flair.
And the winner? Oleksiy from our Flight Team flew to the top of the podium, with his fellow Flight Adviser Alex Peake in third place – and yours truly in second.
