Heavy snow in France – Travel disruption

Heavy snow in Northern France is causing significant travel disruption in and out of Paris today.
Scheduled airlines have cancelled up to 25% of flights from Paris Charles De Gaulle and Paris Orly airports. Eurostar services are also cancelled entirely for the remainder of today, with the weather forecast indicated that disruption will continue into tomorrow.
Dedicated private jet airport Paris Le Bourget is open for private jet charter flights and we are arranging flights for PrivateFly customers in and out of Le Bourget today. The flexibility of private jets mean that they can often fly when airlines are grounded by bad weather conditions.
Why are private jets more agile during snow and weather disruption?
- Private jets can use many more airports – so it is possible to switch to airports less affected by bad weather conditions
- Private jet travel allows for flexible scheduling – so the route and timing can be amended at short notice to find ‘gaps’ in the weather
- Private jets can start moving again very quickly – when conditions improve, whereas airlines can take days to recover
