Why you should book ahead for private jets to Geneva this winter

Geneva Airport is Europe’s second-busiest airport for private jets (after Paris Le Bourget), with over 32,000 private jet movements last year.

But unlike Le Bourget (which is exclusive to private aviation), Geneva is also a very busy airline airport. So this ‘double demand’ factor means its runway reaches capacity at peak times, for private jet landings and take-offs.

This is especially the case between December and February, when ski demand adds to its year-round popularity as a business destination. Geneva is the closest airport for popular ski resorts such as Chamonix and Megeve.

This can make flight planning challenging, especially for last minute flight requests and on Fridays and weekends. Sometimes a landing slot for the aircraft can be secured to position in, but not a preferred matching departure slot – or the other way around.

Book ahead for private flights to Geneva this winter

The private jet market is currently seeing increasing demand, after several years of challenging economic conditions. And we’re expecting this winter season to see more demand than ever, for private jet flights to Geneva.

That’s why we’re recommending clients looking to use Geneva over this period to book further ahead than usual to secure their preferred timings – particularly if travelling between Friday and Sunday.

While one of the benefits of private aviation is usually the ability to book and fly at the last minute, longer lead times are a good idea in this case.

Last minute flights to Geneva are always possible of course, but may mean clients need to revise their itineraries or – at particularly busy times – consider using alternative airports such as Lyon Bron, Annecy or Chambery.
