Birthday celebrations at Stansted Airport

At PrivateFly we believe in celebrating excellence and innovation across the aviation industry, so we were delighted to help our friends at Harrods Aviation celebrate their 20th Birthday at Stansted Airport last week.

It was also a great opportunity for some of our new team members to see behind the scenes at the newly refurbished FBO and see two of the Air Harrods helicopters.

As the band played inside the terminal (and cocktails were served) an Air Harrods pilot escorted the PrivateFly team on a guided tour of the two helicopters (both available for charter).

The bigger of the two helicopters was a Sikorsky S76, a VIP twin engine suited for VIP business or leisure flights. Its cocoon cabin has a quiet gearbox which makes it particularly quiet for passengers (no need for headphones in this helicopter).

The Sikorsky S76 seats up to 8 passengers and has a good range; capable of flying from London to Scotland or Paris. It also has a spacious separate luggage compartment which can accommodate golf clubs as well as suitcases.

The second helicopter on show was Air Harrod’s Augusta Westland A109S Grand. Slightly smaller, it is suited for charter for up to 6 passengers and is ideal for airport transfers or helicopter city tours.

Back in the terminal the Harrods team were keen to take us on a passenger walk-through tour of the FBO, including their newly refurbished business lounge, screening areas and bars and conference rooms.

London Stansted: a misunderstood airport?

Private jet charter customers are spoilt for choice for airports offering access to London, as London Stansted competes with London Biggin Hill, London City Airport, London Luton, London Farnborough, London Blackbushe and RAF Northolt. As well as the busier Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

While Stansted is geographically further from the centre of London than some other London private jet airports (although still only 10 minutes from Battersea by helicopter), it offers excellent fast ground transport links into the centre of London.

For private jet flights during colder winter months Stansted also offers plenty of hangar space so aircraft can be hangared overnight to avoid de-icing.

Stansted also offers good slot availability, allowing private jet passengers more flexibility with their flight times and dates.

London Stansted offers a choice of FBOs (private jet terminals). In addition to Harrods Aviation, there are three other operating FBOs: Inflite; Universal Aviation UK; and Fayair. An FBO to suit every private jet passenger!

Ask the PrivateFly team for private jet or helicopter flight quotes from Stansted. Contact us or call +44 1747 642 777 (24 hours).
