A private jet birthday card for Prince George
Private jets can be a grand gesture in many ways. No more so than when the outside is personalised for a special occasion.
So what better way to say Happy Birthday to the future King of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, who turned one today, than by repainting a jet for the occasion? One our operators, Hangar8, has done just that.
Hangar8 operate one of the world’s biggest global fleets of private jets. They used a Bombardier Challenger 601 (obviously this was an occasion for a large, long range jet) and tasked design studio Andrew Winch with the redecoration.
The aircraft’s bespoke design includes the Union Jack and the message ‘Happy Birthday Prince George’ along the side. There is even a special occasion tail number G-EORGE – which enthusiasts will know is just for the photo opp. This format cannot be used when the aircraft is airborne. More about private jet tail numbers.
The temporary refit is estimated to have cost £120,000 and, while there is no suggestion that the young prince will actually fly onboard the aircraft, it will certainly get noticed if Hangar8 do decide to let other passengers charter it.
Hangar8 produced another eyecatching aircraft exterior last year for EBACE – a zebra print to highlight their growing business in Africa. See this and other bespoke aircraft exteriors: Branding a private jet.
