Our consistent overseas growth is recognised by The Sunday Times
Yesterday, PrivateFly was one of 100 companies featured in the Sunday Times SME Export Track 100. This is a well-known league table of UK-founded companies, that are showing the fastest-growth in their overseas sales.
We were delighted to be featured, for the third year in a row. We’re the only aviation company in the list, and one of only a handful of companies that have retained a place in the table over a number of years.
It’s one thing having a great year, but another to achieve strong growth on top of that bigger base…and to do it all over again the next year. And what’s more, to remain commercially viable in the process (the Export Track 100 only lists companies that are showing a profit).
Although we operate in many non-UK markets, including France, Germany and Russia, our international growth has been primarily driven by our continuing US expansion. After opening an office in Fort Lauderdale in 2016, we’ve make great progress in the States.
We’ve learnt a huge amount, and there is still so much to do, but I’m proud of what we’ve been able to achieve so far. And, as ever, our success comes down to our people. Our growing US team are doing a fantastic job, and we’re adding to their numbers all the time, including with our takeover of Bird Dog Jet at the end of 2017.
But in fact our whole team contributes to our overseas success. We regularly offer opportunities for the team to move between our offices, on short exchanges and longer secondments. Although the US is a very different market to Europe in many ways, it’s also important for us to retain a strong sense of what makes PrivateFly distinctive in our sector, wherever we are.
Continuing this growth curve will be a challenge, but we’ve always enjoyed a challenge! It’s great to see our international success so far recognised in this way.
