The Global 7500 nears first deliveries

Bombardier has now received Canadian certification of the much-anticipated Global 7500, with worldwide certifications set to follow shortly. The 7500 marks a new milestone for ultra long range jets – with its boundary-breaking range of 7,700 nautical miles outflying rival Gulfstream’s G650ER by 200nm.

Bombardier can now begin deliveries to its first customers before the end of the year, with aircraft likely to enter the private jet charter market early in 2019. Here’s our exclusive video tour:

Originally, the Global 7500 was named the 7000, following the pattern of the existing Global 5000 and 6000 – ie the number representing the aircraft’s maximum range. However during its test program, the aircraft achieved a longer range than expected, so Bombardier renamed it the Global 7500. Its range makes it capable of completing non-stop flights such as New York to Hong Kong.

But while record-breaking range is the headline feature here, the majority of customers don’t need to fly to these very far extremes. The real point of difference between the Global 7500 and the Gulfstream G650ER is inside its cabin.

Its four-zone layout and extra space will appeal to customers looking for a bit more space and privacy – offering a dedicated and permanent bedroom area, rather than one converted from the divan seating (which is the standard in leading Global and Gulfstream models up until now).

There’s also a stand up shower in its ensuite, which isn’t available in the G650ER; and a large conference suite with a 6-seater table, which can equally be used for a formal dining space. Bombardier has also added extra windows (now 28 in all) to compete with Gulfstream’s famously light-filled cabin.

PrivateFly expects to see the Global 7500 enter the charter market early in 2019. In the meantime, clients can charter existing members of the Global family, including the Global 5000 or 6000 – or of course rival long range jets from Gulfstream, Dassault and more.
