WORLD CUP OF JETS: WHICH COUNTRY’S PRIVATE JET REIGNS SUPREME?

This month, fans have been glued to their TVs, tablets, computers and smartphones as football players from around the world try to bring the World Cup trophy home for their country. And with the first round finished, and the Final 16 rounding up for the knockout round, at PrivateFly we thought – why let the football players have all the fun?

That’s why, starting this week on our Facebook page, we’re going to be running our own World Cup tournament. But instead of football, countries will be represented by a private jet associated with them. And it’s up to the fans to decide who get to take home the glory – no refs, fouls or red cards in our World Cup!

Two country’s jets will be facing each other every other day on our Facebook page in the hopes of moving on to the next round. Fans get to cast their vote of which one should win and whichever country/jet receives the most votes by the end of the day is cast as the match winner.

To gear up for World Cup of Jets, here’s the lineup:

And no sporting event is complete without background and stats about each of the country’s players – so here’s a summary of what each private jet provides to its passengers, and why is was chosen to represent that specific country.

ENGLAND: England’s big player this year is the Hawker 800. Unmatched in its combination of comfort, cabin size and range, the Hawker 800 is a popular player for the England private jet set. Working tirelessly off-season, this aircraft has undergone many small improvements to improve its cruise and climb speeds, making it a worthy contender in this year’s World Cup of Jets game.

GERMANY: The German native Dornier 328 is gearing up to represent the country where it was made. A modern player in the turboprop arena, the Dornier 328 promises private jet passengers and fans high cruising speeds that are bound to make an impression during this year’s games.

BRAZIL: Brazil’s team is looking strong this year as the extremely popular Phenom 300 has been chosen for the team. Born and bred in Brazil, this six-seat jet is expected to take the games and the small jet market by storm, encompassing both high performance and a stylish presence, making it a popular aircraft both in the skies and on the ground. Let’s see if this jet’s looks can help get it to the Finals of this year’s World Cup of Jets games.

FRANCE: France’s Falcon 7X is bringing some high expectations to how well France will do in the World Cup of Jets game, especially among our French Flight Team! An all-around performer, the Falcon 7X challenges position dominance both in the games and in the air, flying towards the top end of the private jet market. On top of its high performance, it also offers private jet customer and fans an extremely comfortable flight.

UNITED STATES: Speed is the name-of-the-game for the US, as they choose the All-American Citation X to help them victory in the World Cup of Jets games. A favorite around the world, the Citation X is the fastest private jet in the charter market and has even won awards in honor of its advances in aviation and aerospace technology. Cruising just under the speed of sound, competitors should be wary that this jet doesn’t speed right past them!

Group President and Editor-in-Chief of Elite Traveler, Doug Gollan, is sticking to his American roots, backing the Citation X as the winner of the World Cup of Jets. “It’s very fast, something Americans like,” states Gollan, “with enough range to fly from sea to shining sea. Plus it can get us to all 50 states, including Hawaii, a great place for Team USA to vacation after they return from Brazil – hopefully with the FIFA World Cup!”

ITALY: Italy is being represented by their local Piaggio P180 Avanti, the fuel-efficient and comfortable light private jet. True to its Italian heritage, the Avanti boasts a spacious cabin with ultra-leather used on the interior for the ultimate in style and comfort. And why it may be a small prop, it’s built for high altitudes and high speed that will definitely come in handy for the World Cup of Jets games!

SWITZERLAND: The Pilatus PC-12 was the immediate pick for Switzerland’s team for this year’s games. A private jet player that has solidified its short game, the Pilatus PC-12 performs well no matter what the circumstances, even for short fields, grass and unmade runways. Plus with a winning combination of reliability, versatility and safety, this aircraft is bound to make an impression at the World Cup of Jets games!

JAPAN: Japan is putting its hopes on the newbie of the group, with HondaJet HA-420 joining the team. Only launched this year, the HondaJet is already making a name for itself in the private jet industry and among private jet fans as it’s determined to revolutionize the industry. The Japanese native plans on using cutting edge technology to maximize its efficiency and outplay the rest of the lineup until it’s the final winner!

Alud Davies, Senior Editor at Corporate Jet Investor, is putting his money behind Japan’s HondaJet. “HondaJet has ‘plucky outsider’ written all over it,” Davies claims. “While it might not get very far in the contest, and might not be the best performing, it’s the only aircraft in the competition that creates a talking point – like why don’t more aircraft have engines above the wings?”

Who do you think will make it to the next round? Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to make sure you stay in the loop plus to cast your vote for your favorites!

The games begin June 27th.
