PrivateFly at the Red Bull Air Race

Together with our friends at GlobeAir we have pioneered the use of technology to send private jet quotes from the aircraft operator to the customer in the fastest possible time.

To celebrate our new speedy system GlobeAir very kindly invited us to Austria to watch the experts demonstrate their speed and performance in the air around the Red Bull Air Race track at Spielberg.

Our day began at Landmark Aviation at London Luton Airport where our Citation Mustang was ready to depart on our arrival.

While the Citation Mustang sits in our Small Jet category there was plenty of room on board for all four of us (and large bag of Alex Peake’s camera equipment) to stretch out and enjoy the flight (and we didn’t even use the separate luggage compartment).

The flight from Luton to Graz in a Citation Mustang takes around 2 hours 45 minutes and we were soon above the clouds, looking over the Alps before our descent into Graz.

On arrival at Graz Airport we were whisked from the steps of the jet into a waiting car and on our way to Spielberg.

Spielberg is Red Bull’s Austrian home, and was re-opened this year as the location for Formula 1’s Austrian Grand Prix.

The spectacular backdrop was perfect for the Red Bull Air Race pilots to display their expertise and speed for the season finale.

The crowd was kept entertained between races by the Flying Bulls and Flying Bull Helicopters acrobatic skills.

The main event was the Master Class races, with pilots pushing their aircraft to the speed and performance limits to race around the track, through slaloms and gates in the fastest possible times. Despite Austrian support for their local pilot Hannes Arch, the day’s winner was French Nicolas Ivanoff. British Nigel Lamb won this season’s World Championship.

After celebrating the British and French wins, we were all too soon back at the airport on the steps of our jet ready for our flight back to the UK.

Thanks to all at GlobeAir for a spectacular day at the races.
