Our Most Romantic Flights at PrivateFly

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, many enthusiastic romantics are making plans to impress that special person in their life. And taking a loved one on a private jet can be one of the most impressive romantic gestures a Romeo can make.

At PrivateFly, we’ve had the pleasure of helping arrange some of the most romantic trips and surprises over the years – whether it’s flying off for lunch for two in a remote location, or a scenic trip with a surprise proposal.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we’ve rounded up a few of the most romantic flights we’ve got the pleasure of arranging by private jet and helicopter.

One of our clients contacted us in mid-December with an exciting plan: he wanted to take his girlfriend on a scenic helicopter flight on New Year’s Eve, where he would then propose to her. PrivateFly’s Flight Team discussed a few options with him, before recommending a helicopter sightseeing flight from Redhill, in a Robinson R44 helicopter, over the iconic sights of London.

“I wanted to make it an extra-special day to remember,” the customer commented. “It took some sneaking around, but the perfect plan came together. The PrivateFly team worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly and efficiently without me having to worry about a thing, to the point of even ringing the helicopter company whilst we were there to check we’d arrived.”

And most importantly, she said yes!

One of our clients came to us wanting to fly her husband to Las Vegas for a surprise weekend away, to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. The couple, who live in New York, had met there almost ten years beforehand, but hadn’t been back together since. So she wanted to make it an extra special occasion.

Having a twilight view of Las Vegas as they came in to land was very important to her, so the Flight Team worked out the optimum flight times to make that happen and briefed the crew to make sure they had the best possible view.

As an extra surprise for them both, we arranged for champagne and a special anniversary cake to be waiting onboard the Citation XLS aircraft when they arrived at New York’s Teterboro Airport.

The couple were both thrilled and had a magical weekend away, with a clear view of the lights of Las Vegas as they came into land at McCarran Airport. We’re looking forward to flying them there again in another five years!

We were delighted to be able to help arrange a romantic lunch date for some clients back in the spring. The couple was planning to celebrate a special birthday in style, by flying to Italy for lunch and returning again that evening.

After taking a Citation Mustang from London Biggin Hill airport to Milan Linate airport, the couple transferred to an Agusta A109S helicopter for the 25 minute journey to the family-run restaurant dal Pescatore, in a small village of Runate in the north of Italy.

The restaurant has its own private grass helipad, so they were able to land onsite. After a long and leisurely lunch, the clients were flown back in the helicopter to Milan, where the private jet was waiting to fly them back to London Biggin Hill, close to their home in Kent.

A private jet or helicopter makes for the ultimate jetaway vehicle on the wedding day itself. The bride can arrive at the church by helicopter, with the newly married couple then flying off together, to transfer in style to their reception venue – many of which have helipads on site.

A departure from the venue by helicopter is a wonderful way to end the celebrations – whisking the couple to their hotel or onto a waiting private jet. Recently, we arranged one wedding departure flight after a beach wedding in Boston, and decorated the aircraft with ribbons, balloons and a “Just Married” sign.
