Why I’m proud to be named one of Europe’s industry leaders 2015
Here at EBACE (European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition), there is an annual announcement of the Top 10 Leaders of European Business Aviation. The list is decided by the global media Aviation Week, and I was very happy and proud to be included in the 2015 line-up, for the second year running.
This year’s list also includes Dominique Thillaud, CEO of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Group, who is doing great things in the world of FBOs. Plus Patrick Hansen, co-CEO of Luxaviation, and Marwan Khalek, CEO of Gama Aviation – aircraft operators leading the way in the current wave of industry consolidation and mergers.
The judges said I was recognised for ‘pioneering a new way of doing business’ and for PrivateFly’s 60% sales growth in the last year. Great to hear, especially the ‘pioneer’ label, as it really underlines what the whole team at PrivateFly is about. We passionately believe that booking a private aircraft can – and should – be much easier, faster and more cost-effective through technology, without losing the all-important VIP service element.
And while it’s gratifying to have our strong business growth recognised too, I am always looking for more! Most companies would be over the moon with this level of annual growth, but that was just the target that we’d set ourselves.
We are currently seeking second round fundraising to accelerate our USA expansion, which now accounts for 20% of our flight sales. Our technology-based model has proven itself in Europe over the last few years, including strong growth in France and the UK. This is a major focus for our future development and we are already attracting growing interest from US business aviation customers, so watch this space.
