A new private jet classroom

A recent news story we loved was about a disused private jet that is being turned into a new classroom for a UK-based school.

The aircraft is a Cessna Citation II, which was transported by road from London Southend Airport to Milton Hall School in Essex. Currently undergoing renovations, these lucky primary school children have a very exciting classroom coming their way in the next couple of months, which will be a unique working space for up to 15 children at a time.

There’s no doubt that aviation is an inspiring business for young and old alike. At PrivateFly, we’ve been involved with various school projects and seen first hand how aviation can motivate. Ranging from pilot Q&A sessions with primary school children, ongoing internship programmes, to helping A Level students live the private jet lifestyle as part of a media studies film project.

This new Cessna classroom has the tail number G-DWJM and was privately owned and flying all over Europe until recently. The Cessna Citation II is still a popular private jet model in the charter market, being very competitively priced for shorter trips of 1-2 hours and seating up to 10 people.

The school plans to use the private jet as an ICT and media hub, complete with seating, solar panel lighting and wind turbines. Obviously we’re more than a little biased at PrivateFly, but we can’t think of a better way to inspire a next generation of innovators, and help them spread their wings.
