My Hercules Days

Since the days of Biggles, moustaches have been synonymous with aviation. So it was fitting to see this C-130 Hercules aircraft sporting a rather natty moustache for Movember – the moustache-growing men’s health charity. The specially-customised Marshall Aerospace aircraft, renamed the the MO-130, is available for cargo charter during November.

The PrivateFly team is pleased to be playing a small part to support this worthy cause. Our Operations Controller Algy is hoping to be sporting a lustrous moustache by month end, worthy of James Bigglesworth himself (or possibly his cousin Algernon). Updates to follow.
Seeing the Hercules also brought back happy memories for me of my days in the RAF. I spent six years flying the transport aircraft on 47 and LXX squadrons, based at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire. These were tactical squadrons and the flying was all low level – 250 ft in the UK and 100 ft on operations. These days I fly the Citation XL and Citation XLS as a freelance private jet pilot, alongside my desk job. So I am more used to serving my passengers champagne than throwing them out on a parachute!
