My ice bucket challenge

Many thanks to our friends at the aircraft operator Globe Air, who nominated me and the team for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
In the unlikely event that this has passed you by, this is the social media campaign that involves being filmed while being soaked in iced water – to raise funds and awareness for a worthy charity, The ALS Association. ALS is also known as Motor Neurone disease. The campaign has also been adopted by Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK.
The internet is now awash with videos of celebrities, politicians, pop stars and normal people getting soaked. I’m not professing to fit any of those descriptions, but our friends at Globe Air laid down the gauntlet and I was only too happy to oblige. Strangely enough, there was no shortage of volunteers to throw the water either, after I made it clear I would be the one getting soaked.
Despite my secret weapon of a PrivateFly umbrella a third bucket of water managed to score a direct hit. But thankfully it was a warm sunny day in St Albans and all in a very good cause.
Here’s what happened. If you want to undertake your own Ice Bucket Challenge visit The ALS Association or Macmillan Cancer Support.
It’s great to see how the Business Aviation industry has taken on this charity challenge so enthusiastically. You can also see how some other private jet companies braved the icebucket, in this great BizJetBlogger round up by Corporate Jet Investor.
