June Private Jet Trends

Summer is in full swing, and although the COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting private jet travel (and indeed affecting all aspects of the travel industry), there are still reasons to fly.

Many are turning to private aviation for the first time, finding that traveling in a less-congested environment in both the smaller FBO experience and private aircraft feels much safer.

We compiled our flights flown in June and took a look at some of the outstanding trends to better understand private jet charter these days.

Top Arrival Locations

So where are people flying?

Our top-booked arrival destination is just outside of New York City – Westchester County/White Plains. This airport is often used by those who live outside the city and commute into Manhattan for work.

Another close-to-the-city favorite this month was Republic Airport, located in Farmingdale.

Our third most-booked airport was Palm Beach International – a consistent favorite for private jet fliers.

Rounding out the top 5 destinations was Chicago & Teterboro, which is a dedicated private jet airport servicing Manhattan.

Top Departure Locations

While we’re fascinated by where people are flying to, it is often instructive to see where they are leaving from as well.

South Florida was the most popular departure area, with Palm Beach & Boca Raton providing the most departures for the month. As summer heats up in South Florida, so hurricane season also arrives, which drives many people out of the region.

The second most-popular departure location was Teterboro Airport – the Manhattan favorite. Van Nuys, which serves the greater Los Angeles area, came in a close third.

Most Popular Flying Day

June 14 saw our peak of flights in a single day. While Sunday isn’t usually our most popular day of the week to fly, for those jetting in June it definitely saw a surge.

Most Popular Aircraft

Most flights this month were domestic-US in terms of geography. And the Phenom 300 is a perfect jet for such trips of up to 4 hours – which is why it is no surprise that the light Embraer model was our most-booked aircraft of the month.

For the longer cross-country flights, the Challenger 300 & 350 were our most popular aircraft. This comfortable super-midsize jet is perfect for longer flights.
